No. The vases are not for water. They are made for dried flowers, branches or to stand on their own. For fresh flowers, use a glass insert with water.
How do I clean it?
With a soft brush or a dry cloth, between the ribs too. No detergent or alcohol.

Up close, yes, as fine lines. They are the trace of the process, not a flaw, and they make the light on the vase look alive.
